Malaysia admission requirements
Malaysia is one of the few destinations where HSC can lead straight into a bachelor’s degree. Here is what universities ask for.

The short version
- After HSC: Universiti Malaya’s international channel accepts HSC, Grade 12, A levels and the IB, or a recognised diploma with a CGPA of at least 3.00.
- English: UM’s minimum for undergraduates is IELTS 5.0, TOEFL iBT 60, PTE Academic 41 or MUET Band 3, with some programmes asking more.
- Applying: RM 300 per application covering up to 3 programme choices, with faculties deciding in 4 to 8 weeks.

Do I need a foundation year after HSC?
Not at Universiti Malaya, which lists HSC and Grade 12 as accepted qualifications. Other universities and programmes may differ.

UM faculties process applications within 4 to 8 weeks.
