UK study costs at a glance
A UK degree costs less in total than many destinations because courses are shorter: most bachelor’s degrees in England take 3 years and most taught master’s take 1 year. The trade-off is high rent, especially in London.

£9,000 to £30,000Postgraduate tuition per year

BACHELOR’S
£11,400 to £38,000 per year
International undergraduate range; medicine and some lab subjects cost more
Bangladeshi HSC students usually add a foundation year first, which is charged separately. Budget for 4 years in total: foundation plus a 3-year degree.
MASTER’S
£9,000 to £30,000 per year
Most taught master’s last 12 months
MBA and some specialist programmes cost more than the range. Check whether the fee covers the full 12 months including the dissertation period.
PHD

Usually 3 to 4 years; funding varies
Ask the department about studentships that cover fees and a stipend before you apply.

Cost FAQs
Is London much more expensive?
Yes. With student halls, Study UK’s figures come to about £1,294 a month in London against £947 elsewhere, and the visa asks you to show £1,529 a month in London against £1,171 elsewhere.
Do I pay the health surcharge every year?
No, you pay it all upfront when you apply, for the whole length of your visa. A 3-year visa costs about £2,328.
Can part-time work cover my living costs?
Only partly. You can work up to 20 hours a week in term, and typical student jobs pay £10 to £15 an hour. Do not count on wages in your visa funds.
Is the foundation year included in the degree fee?
Usually not. Integrated foundation years and partner-college foundations are charged separately, so budget for 4 years if you apply after HSC.
