Planning education sponsorship
Most Bangladeshi students are funded by parents. Each country has its own rules for how that support must be shown.

Who can sponsor you, by country
| Country | What to know |
|---|---|
| UK | Money can be in a parent’s account with their consent letter and your birth certificate. Funds must be held for 28 days, and the statement must be no older than 31 days when you apply. |
| Germany | Family money in Bangladesh does not count directly. You need a blocked account, a German or EU scholarship, or a sponsor living in Germany. |
| Ireland | 6 months of statements for you and your sponsor, with consent. Spreading money across many sponsors raises refusal risk. |
| Japan | Supporter’s 6-month bank statement and 3 years of tax records; relationship proof if not a parent. |
| Finland | The money must be in your own account. |
| New Zealand, Australia, Canada | Family support is common; officers look closely at where large deposits came from. |

What causes refusals
- A large deposit shortly before applying with no documented source. Immigration New Zealand names this as a common reason.
- Income on tax returns that cannot support the balance shown.
- Many small sponsors instead of one clear source.
- A study plan or SOP that does not match the family’s finances.
Start building a clean record 6 months before you apply. Never use borrowed balances or fake statements; banks and embassies verify them.
