University of Manchester: highlights
The University of Manchester is a public research university in the north of England and a member of the Russell Group. It is ranked 40th in the world by QS for 2027 and is the university most targeted by the UK’s top 100 graduate recruiters. About 104 Bangladeshi students study there, among more than 1,500 from South Asia.
- After HSC: you need a foundation year first. The integrated foundation year asks for 80% overall with 80% in Mathematics and Physics; INTO Manchester asks for 65% overall.
- For a master’s: a 4-year bachelor’s from a reputable Bangladeshi university, typically with a GPA of 3.2 out of 4.
- Tuition: about £37,500 to £39,700 a year for the bachelor’s courses checked below, and £35,700 to £41,400 for the one-year master’s courses.
- Living costs: Manchester estimates about £15,030 for a 41-week academic year in self-catered halls, roughly £1,503 a month.
- Scholarship: the Global Futures Scholarship gives Bangladeshi students £12,000 towards a master’s, or £12,000 a year for three years of a bachelor’s.
- English: a test such as IELTS is required. Earlier English-medium study is not accepted on its own.

Foundation years also start in September. If you miss the September intake, the next chance for most courses is a full year later.
How to apply and key dates
- Pick your route
With HSC, apply for a foundation year. With A levels, apply for the bachelor’s directly. With a 4-year bachelor’s, apply for a master’s.
- Bachelor’s: apply through UCAS
The UCAS fee for 2027 entry is £34.50 for up to 5 choices. Apply by 13 January 2027 for equal consideration.
- Master’s: apply on Manchester’s own portal
There is no application fee. Popular courses use staged admissions, so earlier stages have more places.
- Accept your offer and pay the deposit
Self-funded master’s students pay £2,500 before the CAS is issued.
- Apply for the UK Student visa
Use your CAS, a TB test certificate from an IOM clinic and 28 days of financial evidence.

University halls range from £4,853 to £12,096 a year. For the visa you must show £1,171 a month for 9 months (£10,539), rising to £1,203 a month for applications from 30 November 2026, on top of your first year of tuition.
What one year costs in total
For BSc Computer Science, the first year comes to about £54,700: £39,700 in tuition plus about £15,030 in living costs. A one-year MSc in Finance comes to a similar figure before any scholarship.

Is there a scholarship for Bangladeshi students?
Yes. The Global Futures Scholarship is worth £12,000 for a master’s (apply by 25 April 2027) and £12,000 a year for three years of a bachelor’s (apply by 30 March 2027). You need an offer first and must be self-funded.
Does Manchester accept a Medium of Instruction letter instead of IELTS?
No. Manchester says earlier English-medium study is not accepted on its own. You need an approved test such as IELTS, TOEFL iBT or PTE at the score your course asks for.
When should I apply for September 2027?
