Three accepted options
| Blocked account (Sperrkonto) | At least €11,904, with a monthly disposal limit of €992 |
|---|---|
| Formal sponsorship (Verpflichtungserklärung) | From a sponsor living in Germany |
| Scholarship | Only German government or EU-funded awards are accepted |
How the blocked account works
You deposit the full amount with an approved provider before your appointment. After arrival you can withdraw up to €992 a month. Health insurance and the semester contribution are extra, so plan for more than the blocked amount.
