Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT): highlights

MIT is ranked first in the QS World University Rankings 2027, as it has been for more than a decade. It is one of very few US universities that treat international applicants the same as American ones for financial aid, so the sticker price is not what most admitted students pay.

  • After HSC: US universities do not set an HSC cut-off. MIT reviews your whole school record, test scores, essays and recommendations together.
  • Total cost: USD 92,760 for 2026-27, including tuition of USD 66,720, housing and food.
  • Financial aid: Need-blind for international students, full need met.
  • Tests: SAT or ACT required.
  • Deadlines: Early Action: 1 November. Regular Action: 4 January.
