Step by step from Bangladesh
- Get your letter of acceptance
From a Designated Learning Institution.
- Get your PAL or TAL
Usually after paying part or all of your first-year tuition; allow 2 to 4 weeks. Master’s and PhD students at public institutions are exempt.
- Open a GIC
Deposit CAD 23,448 plus the bank fee.
- Do your medical exam
At IOM or an approved panel physician in Dhaka.
- Gather 4 to 6 months of bank records
With a clear explanation of where the money came from.
- Apply online and pay CAD 150
Through your IRCC account.
- Give biometrics at VFS Global
Dhaka, Sylhet or Chittagong, after paying CAD 85.
- Wait for the decision
Usually 6 to 14 weeks via the Singapore office.
- Travel with your port-of-entry letter
A border officer issues the actual permit when you land.

No. Every Bangladeshi applicant now uses the standard stream.
What happens without a PAL?
If your programme needs one, the application is refused.
Why are refusal rates so high?
Canada capped permits and tightened checks; about 64% of applications were refused in 2025, and Bangladesh was among the hardest-hit countries.
