The two main intakes
February / March (Semester 1)
The most courses and scholarships. Monash and Melbourne run both February and July starts for their example degrees.
July (Semester 2)
Widely offered at universities. Some providers also run trimesters with a November start.
How far ahead to start
| Months before the start | What to do |
|---|---|
| 12 to 9 | Shortlist courses, take your English test, check scholarships |
| 9 to 6 | Apply to universities and prepare your funds evidence |
| 6 to 3 | Accept an offer, pay the deposit, buy health cover, get your CoE |
| 3 to 1 | Lodge the visa, complete health checks, book travel only after the grant |
Build your preparation timeline
Your preparation timeline
- 18 to 12 months before: Research courses, eligibility, funding and scholarship deadlines.
- 12 to 9 months before: Prepare language tests, transcripts, references and your shortlist.
- 9 to 6 months before: Submit applications by each programme’s actual deadline.
- 6 to 3 months before: Meet offer conditions, arrange funding and prepare visa documents.
- 3 to 1 months before: Apply for the visa and plan accommodation and arrival.
Keep these dates separate
Leave time between your offer, the CoE and the visa decision. Home Affairs advises against booking travel before your visa is finalised, and Australia Awards Bangladesh reopens in early 2027.
