University of Toronto: highlights

The University of Toronto is Canada’s largest research university and ranks 32nd in the QS World University Rankings 2027. It accepts the HSC for direct entry, and its Lester B. Pearson scholarship is one of the few fully funded bachelor’s awards open to Bangladeshi school leavers.

  1. Ask your school to nominate you for the Pearson scholarship

    Schools may nominate one student a year, by 9 October 2026.

  2. Apply for admission

    Pearson nominees must apply by 16 October 2026. Send transcripts and your English result when asked.

  3. Complete the scholarship application

    Nominees submit it by 6 November 2026.

  4. Apply for the study permit

    Show first-year tuition plus CAD 23,448 for living costs, with 4 to 6 months of bank records. Undergraduate applicants also need a provincial attestation letter.

Living costs in Toronto

Toronto is one of Canada’s two most expensive cities for rent. IRCC’s figure of CAD 23,448 a year is the minimum you must show for the study permit, and actual costs in Toronto are usually higher.

For the study permit, IRCC asks for CAD 23,448 in living funds for one person, on top of first-year tuition. Canada refused about 64% of study permit applications overall in 2025, so prepare 4 to 6 months of clean bank records.
